Bio of Scott Walker, CAFM
Scott is an
Assurance Partner at MNP. He achieved his Chartered Accountant designation in
January 2002 and was awarded the Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager
designation in May 2006. Scott has over 20 years of assurance experience.
In addition to running
a practice focused on Public Sector assurance work, Scott provides peer review
functions for First Nation audit clients in Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba
and Quebec. He is involved in all the
First Nation and public sector audit engagements performed by the Leduc
office. This experience has provided
Scott with a unique perspective, being fluent in four of the major accounting
frameworks in Canada, being PSAS, ASPE, IFRS, and ASNPO.
Scott has been recognized as a First
Nations specialist, and is the National Audit Director for MNP’s Indigenous
Services niche. In this role he oversees
many of the assurance issues facing Indigenous clients across Canada and is
involved in shaping the Firm’s position on financial reporting, FNFTA, and
other issues. He was the Alberta
Provincial Director of MNP’s Indigenous Services niche from 2012 – 2016. In addition, Scott is part of MNP’s internal
Quality Management team, which reviews the work done by other MNP offices
annually. He is also a member of the firm’s
Assurance Executive Committee, which advises on Quality Assurance and guides
the strategic direction of MNP’s audit and assurance work.
2002 – 2015, Scott was on the faculty of the Banff Centre, where he lectured
and co-authored the Indigenous Leadership and Management Development program.
