Bio of Arlene Johnston, CAFM, CAPA
I began my employment with Nooaitch Indian Band in November 2013 in the position as Band Administrator. I have worked for First Nations since 1995 in different capacities such as Band Administration, Finance Comptroller, as a private contractor as well as a Xyntax accounting program trainer. I have a Business Administration Diploma with a 4.05 grade point average and a Certificate in Economic Development and have completed many other certificates. I believe that you never stop learning and I continue to take training each year. I am a Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) and a Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator (CAPA) and a member of AFOA. I am a member of the Old Time Fiddlers and The Royal Canadian Legion. I am also an income tax volunteer and have been for many years. My hobbies are gardening, fishing, camping, swimming, hanging out with my husband's band, listening to music, dancing and reading. I was born in Bralorne, B.C. and moved to the Nicola Valley at the age of eight and have lived and worked in the area ever since. I have worked since the age of fifteen and have been happily married for forty three years and can say that although I have always worked, my life is dedicated to my family and they are my biggest pride and joy. I am a spiritual individual and believe that what you give in life you get back ten times more.
