Changes to CAFM Application



AFOA Canada would like to announce changes to the CAFM application under the Special Arrangement B option, for individuals with more than 5 years experience in Aboriginal financial management.

Effective September 1, 2009, in order to be eligible to write the CAFM Professional Examination, it will be a requirement to take and pass the online courses AFM4 - Strategy & Decisions and AFM14 - Aboriginal Human & Fiscal Issues.

The next online courses will begin on September 14, 2009. For more information, you may visit our website at www.afoa.ca.

If you wish to write the July 6, 2009 CAFM Professional Examination, it will not be a requirement for you to have the AFM4 and AFM14 courses and you must submit your CAFM Application no later than June 5, 2009. [Click here] to download the CAFM Application form.

Therefore, any applicant writing the November 16, 2009 CAFM Professional Examination and thereafter, must have obtained a pass for the pre-requisite courses AFM4 and AFM14.

Here is a summary of the new requirements, which will become effective September 1, 2009:

  • Letter to Challenge the CAFM Professional Exam

  • Section A - Identification

  • Section B - Record of Practical Work Experience, and: Resume + Job Description

  • Section C - Letters of reference from two sponsors

  • Section D - Signed Competency Standards

  • Section E - Fees of $200 plus GST

  • AFM 4 - Strategy & Decisions

  • AFM 14 - Aboriginal Human & Fiscal Issues
