Interim Report Released by the Joint Advisory Committee on Fiscal Relations

The Joint Advisory Committee on Fiscal Relations (committee) has released their Interim Report entitled, "Honouring our Ancestors by Trailblazing a Path to the Future."  

A Memorandum of Understanding signed by National Chief Bellegarde of the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) and Minister Bennett of Indigenous Services Canada provided the framework for the work that has been undertaken to explore a new fiscal relationship. The Interim Report is a roll up of the committee's work and sets out the way forward for the coming years on initiatives to build a New Fiscal Relationship between Canada and First Nations.

The Interim Report will be presented to the Chief's in Assembly at the upcoming Assembly of First Nations 40th Annual General Assembly, from July 23 to 25, 2019 in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

 A NEW WAY TO CELEBRATE EXCEPTIONAL PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS

AFOA Canada is now accepting nominations for the 2019 AFOA Canada-Nutrien Volunteer Who Inspires Award. The Volunteer Who Inspires Award will go to the individual who:

• Inspires through commitment, contribution and engagement in their community or organization;
• Is a respected and respectful individual who has the best interests of the community or organization in mind;
• Influences change across all community members; and
• Has made their work sustainable for future leaders to carry on.

Deadline for Submissions: Friday, August 2, 2019

2019 ILC Scholarship and Bursary Programs Now Open

The ILC, with the support of the NIB Trust, is pleased to offer a number of Professional Development Scholarships, as well as ten bursaries worth $2,000. New this year is an additional bursary program, with the support of Worth Allaye-Chan Investment Counsel Raymond James. Under this new program, three bursaries worth $3,000 will be available. Apply today!

Deadline for BURSARY Program applications is Friday, June 21, 2019.

AFOA Canada is seeking qualified applicants for two positions: Vice President, Education and Training, and Membership Administrator

Vice President, Education & Training
As a member of AFOA Canada’s senior management team, The Vice President, Education & Training will work closely with and report directly to the President & CEO. The Vice President, Education & Training will assume accountability for the overall direction and guidance for AFOA Canada’s full educational staff and programs including certification programs such as the Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM), Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator (CAPA) designations, Certified Indigenous Leadership (CIL), Harvard Business School Certificate Program, and a suite of capacity building workshops.

Membership Administrator - One Year Term
AFOA Canada is looking for an energetic youth to provide administrative support to the Education and Membership team. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and carrying out membership activities, including recruitment and retention, processing applications, processing payments, inputting data into a database, preparing invoices and tracking payments. The incumbent will also assist the Manager, Education and Membership with maintaining all membership files and ensuring integrity of paper and electronic documents.
