The Government of Canada is working with First Nations and has established an advisory committee to provide guidance and recommendations on a new fiscal relationship. It is expected that this engagement process would result in refined options related to predictability, sufficiency, and mutual accountability.

AFOA Canada is now accepting applications for two (2) positions: Education Administrator, and Education and Membership Assistant - Student

Education Administrator 
AFOA Canada is looking for an enthusiastic candidate to join the Education and Membership team. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the following programs: Certified Indigenous Leaders (CIL) In-Person Program, Certified Aboriginal Financial Management (CAFM) Online, In-Person, and Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) Program, along with Research Projects. 

The Education Administrator coordinates and conducts facilitator orientation sessions, provides support to students and potential students, manages student and potential students records, prepares statistical analysis, as required, and manages program course inventory. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the Education Programs content within their purview is up-to-date on the AFOA Canada database, website, Moodle education portal and iMIS database. This position will liaise with project partners and stakeholders of colleges, universities, and post-secondary institutions to promote the CAFM and CIL programs.

This is a full-time permanent position at the AFOA Canada office in Ottawa, Ontario. An attractive compensation and benefits package are offered for this position.

Education and Membership Assistant - Student Term
The Indigenous Learning Centre, a charity established by AFOA Canada, is looking for an energetic student to provide administrative support to the Education and Training team. This position will maintain First Nations contact information in a database; map First Nations communities; maintain membership files and membership information; research education products and inventory, as required; and provide general support to the Indigenous Learning Centre and AFOA Canada team.

This is a term position at the AFOA Canada office in Ottawa, Ontario. The salary is based on the Government of Canada’s Student Rates of Pay. Salary step is based on academic level. The 4-month employment period will be from April 29, 2019 to August 31, 2019. This employment is a part of the Service Canada First Nations and Inuit Student Work Employment Program.

Indigenous Financial Wellness Administrator
AFOA Canada is looking for an energetic candidate to join the Training and Events team. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating workshops in support of AFOA Canada’s Indigenous Financial Wellness Program, including; Volunteer Tax Clinics, Financial Literacy Training Sessions and Dollars and Sense Youth Financial Literacy Program, and related support tools.

This is a full-time permanent position at the AFOA Canada office in Ottawa, Ontario. An attractive compensation and benefits package is offered for this position. 

Indigenous Financial Wellness Administrative Assistant
AFOA Canada is looking for an energetic candidate to provide administrative support to the Education and Training team and data entry for the Indigenous Financial Wellness workshops, Training and Special Projects.

The Indigenous Financial Wellness Administrative Assistant assists with the project management of all Indigenous Financial Wellness workshops, training and projects. This position is responsible for processing and tracking registration payments, preparing workshop and training materials, compiling workshop and training evaluations and providing administrative support to the AFOA Canada team, as required.

This is a full-time permanent position at the AFOA Canada office in Ottawa, Ontario. An attractive compensation and benefits package is offered for this position.

Membership Administrator - 1 Year Term
AFOA Canada is looking for an energetic youth to provide administrative support to the Education and Membership team. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and carrying out membership activities, including recruitment and retention, processing applications, processing payments, inputting data into a database, preparing invoices and tracking payments. The incumbent will also assist the Manager, Education and Membership with maintaining all membership files and ensuring integrity of paper and electronic documents.

This is a term position at the AFOA Canada office in Ottawa, Ontario. The salary is based on the Government of Canada’s Student Rates of Pay. Salary step is based on academic level. The one-year employment period will be from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020. This employment is a part of the Service Canada FNIYES Skills Link Program.
