Best Practices for Aboriginal Financial Institutions

AFOA is pleased to make available to AFOA members a recently released report on best practices undertaken by the National Aboriginal Capital Corporation Association. (NACCA).

The 180 page report draws from best practices of non-profit organizations, corporations and Aboriginal Financial Institutions in Canada and elsewhere. While the report was written specifically for Aboriginal Financial Institutions, much of the content is applicable to Aboriginal community-based organizations and non-profits particularly as it focuses on governance and human resources.

AFOA would like to thank NACCA for generously making this report available to AFOA members.

Best Practices and Tools in Finance and Management for First Nation and Aboriginal Organizations

AFOA is please to introduce AFOA Alberta's publication "Best Practices and Tools in Finance and Management for First Nation and Aboriginal Organizations".

This publication explains in detail the term benchmarking for First Nation and Aboriginal organizations. Organizations can then use benchmarking to seek out better practices and tools to identify potential solutions and enhance their capacity. The Information on Benchmarking and Best Practices then sets the stage for five sections that relate to financial management policy and finally presents the processes.
