Call for Presentations for the 21st National Conference
AFOA Canada will be hosting its 21st National Conference in Ottawa, Ontario from February 14 -16, 2023 at the Shaw Centre. We are inviting submission of abstracts for potential presentations.
Tell us about an initiative, project or program and how it contributes towards improving lives in First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and creating a positive change towards the Indigenous Economy. How does it help to educate and build capacity for your leadership and/or governance? Is it a local, regional or national initiative and are you partnering with federal, provincial or municipal governments, corporate Canada, educational institutions, non-profits or other Indigenous organizations? Tell us how your First Nation, Inuit or Métis organization is actively demonstrating best practices that contribute to positive change? Do you have a success story to share and from which we can all learn from?
The abstract submitted should be no more than 300 words, related to one or more of the following conference tracks:
- Leadership and Governance – Featuring success stories and trends in governance
- Management, Finance and IT – Best practices in management, finance and information technology
- Business Development – Featuring success stories and trends in community business development and entrepreneurship
- Wealth Creation – Featuring trends and best practices in creating community wealth
- Human Capital – Creating healthy work environments that reflect Indigenous cultures

Deadline for Submissions
The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 5:00 pm EDT. The submissions should be submitted in Word format. Please send your submissions by email to the Conference Secretariat at conference@afoa.ca. Late submissions will not be accepted.
