Call for Youth Board Member
Are you Indigenous between the ages of 18 and 28 and in your final year of University or College? Do you want to learn more about governance while helping to create a better life and future for the next generation by improving the management skills of those responsible for the stewardship of Indigenous resources?
If so, AFOA Canada has an opportunity for you. AFOA Canada has a seat at the Board of Directors’ table for one youth to provide advice and contribute to the achievement of AFOA Canada’s mission and vision. The youth will serve on the board in an advisory capacity for a two-year term. Our board is a voluntary, non-political board that establishes overall direction for AFOA Canada with three meetings being held each year. This is a non-voting position however it provides a forum to share knowledge, experience, and best practices; and supports Indigenous accountability and governance efforts.
If you meet our criteria, please submit the following to Sharon Slippery, Executive Coordinator/Corporate Officer at sslippery@afoa.ca:
- A personal letter outlining your experience; your knowledge of issues important to Indigenous youth; your view on the importance of effective finance and/or management; and a description of what you would like to achieve as a board member.
