CAPA PLAR Program

AFOA Canada is pleased to offer the CAPA PLAR Program as a CAPA Certification option for Senior Administrators, Chief Executive Officers, and Senior Managers working in Indigenous communities and organizations on-reserve, off reserve and in urban, rural, and isolated settings across Canada. Developed under the guidance of an Aboriginal CAPA Council, this is the only national program in Canada that addresses the competency needs of those working in Indigenous environments. You will be required to submit a completed CAPA PLAR Evidence Portfolio that successfully demonstrates that you have met or exceeded all CAPA competencies.

Overview

One way to become a CAPA is through the submission of a CAPA PLAR Evidence Portfolio that successfully demonstrates through the assessment process that all CAPA competencies have been met or exceeded. PLAR is a process that involves the identification, documentation, assessment and recognition of learning through formal and informal study.

What you need to know

    • You will be required to complete a CAPA PLAR Application Form
    • The CAPA PLAR Program fee is $750 plus applicable taxes. The fee covers the costs for administration (printing, processing, and mailing materials), CAPA PLAR Assessors and graduation.
    • It may take up to four weeks to have your portfolio assessed and returned by AFOA Canada
    • Upon completion of the assessment of your portfolio you will be advised in writing by AFOA Canada whether you have been successful in achieving the portfolio component of the CAPA designation process.
