Two-Day Workshops
Monday, February 13, 2023 and Tuesday, February 14, 2023
This two-day workshop on the Role of an Executor is designed to provide individuals with an understanding of the work involved in being an Executor and Trustee in the administration of Estates and Testamentary Trusts, as well as a basic grounding in Wills and Will Interpretation. You will also learn about the legal and tax environment, and the level of competence required to be an Executor.
Many communities throughout the country are undertaking Comprehensive Community Planning (CCP) in an effort to improve their economic base while asserting their independence and ownership of community resources. Using best practices and case studies this workshop focuses on: history and evolution of CCP; exploring Indigenous principles; and current models and insights from First Nations who have completed a CCP.
This two-day module is directed towards leaders and senior administrators working in Indigenous communities and organizations. The course has been designed to provide you with insight in strategic planning activities at the community and strategic level. You will become familiar with the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic plans and comprehensive community plans. You will also be introduced to the differences in the components of the plans and the steps required in developing them. Other major topics covered in the course are change management and the development of initiatives to deal with resistance in the part of the community and staff.
The workshop learning objectives are intended to prepare participants for the financial and administrative management of a large infrastructure project. It simulates the thought process that a project manager and his/her team should engage in when managing a large infrastructure project.
The bookkeeping foundations courses are designed to support new bookkeepers and administrators working in finance. In this course participants will learn how accounting information is used; accounting principles and the accounting cycle; the basics of financial statements; segregation of duties and financial controls; and budgeting and budget variance analysis.

The Indigenous Human Resources (HR) business partner integrates the HR function, focusing on people, with the business side of things to help the organization reach its business objectives. HR is able to deliver value to the organization by keeping in touch with frontline managers and supporting good decision-making processes. Especially in times or change and disruption, a strong HR business partnership can ensure that all HR activities are strategically aligned with Indigenous business priorities. You’ll learn how to utilize key performance indicators to inform best practice decision within your Indigenous organization’s landscape.
The workshop will discuss the concept of the Capacity Manager, who is responsible for ensuring that IT services and infrastructure can deliver the agreed capacity and performance targets in a cost effective and timely manner. It will also discuss at a high level host to provide end-user support to ensure IT is used in the most efficient way in the organization.

This workshop will support you in identifying legal requirements and translating them into policies and procedures; navigating discipline and termination; fostering employee engagement and recognizing the change curve. Coming away from this workshop you will have the skills and resources that enable you to measure employee engagement within your Indigenous workplace.
The workshop is an introduction to incidence management and request fulfilment. It will discuss the knowledge used to implement the methods, practices and policies governing the use of IT support processes used to keep the IT functioning efficiently, effectively and securely. The workshop will present a high-level overview service level management as well as release management and change management.
