Two-Day Workshops
Monday, February 9 and Tuesday, February 10, 2026
This two-day module has been developed for leaders and senior staff members working in Indigenous communities and organizations and has been designed to provide participants with insight into strategic planning activities at the community level. The goal is to get you familiar with the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic plans and comprehensive community plans. You will also be introduced to the various components of these plans and the steps required to develop them. Other major topics covered in the course are change management and the development of initiatives to help overcome resistance on the part of the community and staff members.
The workshop learning objectives are intended to prepare participants for the financial and administrative management of a large infrastructure project. It simulates the thought process that a project manager and his/her team should engage in when managing a large infrastructure project.
The workshop learning objectives are intended to prepare participants estates, including: Wills, Power of Attorney and Personal Health Directives, inter vivos trusts. There remains confusion and miss information on this very important topic that not only affects you personally but effects our communities.
This two-day workshop is designed to provide individuals with an understanding of AI, its practical uses, and applied examples from Indigenous communities. It also explores how AI intersects with Indigenous rights, data ownership and cultural protocols. This workshop uses a problem-first approach to digital adoption, helping users avoid chasing tech trends.

Creating a workplace that is mutually beneficial and mutually respectful is the goal of every Indigenous employer. This workshop will support you in identifying legal requirements and translating them into policies and procedures; navigating discipline and termination; fostering employee engagement and recognizing its importance in creating positive organizational outcomes. Coming away from this workshop you will have the skills and resources that enable you to measure employee engagement within your Indigenous workplace.
This module aims to provide the participant understanding of the purpose of the external financial statement audit, the process of preparing financial information for the external auditors, and common strategies for minimizing issues and costs in connection with the external audit. Exercises are designed to gauge how well you have learned and understood the manual material in relation to the learning objectives. The materials for this module have been drawn from a wide variety of sources and are as current as possible.
The workshop learning objectives are intended to prepare non-financial professionals working in Indigenous organizations and nations to build a basic understanding of finance and accounting, including understanding how finance departments operate, terminology used in the finance department, the accounting cycle, cash, funding agreements, budgets, the roles of various stakeholders and understanding select financial statements. Participants will leave this workshop with increased confidence in their ability to work with their finance department and read and contribute to financial reports.

Indigenous organizations have the opportunity of developing their own community members to become leaders and partners in their success. This manual been designed to provide a general overview of the concepts of Employee Effectiveness and Capacity Building. Capacity building is a measurable improvement in an organization’s ability to fulfill its mission through a blend of sound management, strong training and development, and dedication to assessing and achieving results. Capacity building is an effort to strengthen organizational structure and outcomes. The manual provides an introduction to the knowledge required to design your own training plans. It also provides practical examples and best practices to assist you in evaluating and developing your own Employee Effectiveness and Capacity Building initiatives and resources. This workshop will provide foundations for supporting your employees along their performance management experience. Topics covered include assessing, forecasting, and building organizational capacity; developing a learning culture; training; and managing employee performance. The materials in this manual have been drawn from a wide variety of sources and are as current as possible. Specific attention has been given to situating the workshop in Indigenous content, examples, and strategies.
This module is intended to build understanding of the opportunity to use technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the purchasing and accounts payable process and improve the timeliness and accuracy of reporting on expenditures. Exercises are designed to gauge how well you have learned and understood the manual material in relation to the learning objectives. The materials for this module have been drawn from a wide variety of sources and are as current as possible.
The workshop learning objectives are intended to prepare staff and administrators of Indigenous organizations and communities looking to build their awareness of Information Technology. Topics will include: IT capacity management and user support, IT risk assessments and mitigation, change management, cyber security, and IT security principles. Participants will leave this workshop with an increased understanding of Information Technology, including risks, threats and how to be proactive.
