1000+ INDIGENOUS PROFESSIONALS EXPECTED IN WINNIPEG FOR AFOA CANADA CONFERENCE

OTTAWA, Ont., Feb. 14, 2023 – AFOA Canada will host its 22nd National Conference in Winnipeg, Man. from March 5-7, 2024, where they will celebrate their 25th anniversary. Over 1,000 Indigenous professionals, leaders, and representatives of Corporate Canada will attend. It is the largest conference of Indigenous professionals in the finance, management, and governance fields.
The conference will be held at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. The theme is Leading Change and Inspiring Others.
Terry Goodtrack, President and CEO of AFOA Canada, stresses the importance of addressing key issues like sustainability, diversity, work-life balance, and technological advancement. “Leaders must adapt, inspire, and achieve community and organizational goals,” says Terry Goodtrack, setting the tone for the upcoming conference.
Day two will focus on nation rebuilding, exploring how governance can align with traditional systems. This conference offers a vital platform for these discussions and collaborative solutions.
The National Conference will include two plenary events, with a grand entry and an address by Gina Wilson, Deputy Minister of Indigenous Services Canada. The ceremonies for the MNP-AFOA Canada Indigenous Community Excellence Award, the Nutrien Indigenous Youth Financial Management Award, and the Indigenous Leadership award will take place throughout the event. The conference will end with a convocation of newly certified graduates from AFOA Canada’s Certified Programs.
AFOA Canada’s National Conference is the premiere event for the exchange of knowledge and information on Indigenous management, finance, and governance in Canada. It is an important venue where Indigenous financial professionals, Chief Administrators/Executive Officers, Program and Business Managers, Chiefs, Tribal Council members, government representatives and consultants working with Indigenous communities can get together to explore emerging strategies and tools to enhance finance, management and leadership in Indigenous communities and organizations.
